California Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat who is frequently mentioned as a prospective presidential candidate, is rumored to be enraged with Vice President Joe Biden.
Gov. Newsom suggested he would reject legislation that would make it easier for farm workers in the Golden State to form unions, but President Biden openly supported the proposal, according to Politico.
The president’s statement to the state the day before Labor Day reportedly made Gov. Newsom “seething.”
“The Agricultural Labor Relations Voting Choice Act (AB 2183) of California, which will allow California’s agricultural employees more opportunities to organize and engage in collective bargaining for improved pay, benefits, and working conditions, has my full support. Throughout the epidemic, farmworkers sacrificed a significant deal of their personal safety to work long hours and provide food for Americans. The least we can do is make it simpler for farmworkers in the state with the highest concentration of them to decide whether to form a union on a free and fair basis.
